Site Optimisation Case Study
Location: Aberdeenshire, Scotland
Brief: Ascertain whether the optimisation of an existing Telecoms site will negate the need for an additional Telecoms site.
Client: Telecoms Operator
Our client wanted to understand whether the optimisation of an existing Telecoms site, in Aberdeenshire, would enhance the coverage to the locality and as such bypass the need for a further Telecoms site.
We took aerial panoramics using the drone at antenna height, along with further panoramics at greater heights, in order to illustrate the potential increase to the mobile coverage through an extension to the tower height, Furthermore, we took detailed shots of the mast in order to identify what space is available in order to add or re-locate equipment.
By providing a comprehensive lease read summary, within the report, along with confirmation on the likely timescales to obtain the necessary planning approval for the required changes the client was able to make an informed decision as to whether the optimisation of the site would be worthwhile.
In this instance, the ability to optimise the existing site was paramount, due to the fact it was unlikely that planning approval would be issued for a further site in such a scenic area.
